José David was a scholarship student in N/NSCP, and now he’s a teacher at the preschool. Ten years ago, he joined our project as a teen.
José David is a hemophiliac, so he was unable to attend high school because it was too dangerous. He grew up in a tiny two-room house with outside plumbing. We were amazed that, despite his lack of formal education, he was very well read and a talented poet.
His gentle nature and quick mind led us to ask him to coordinate the preschool program. Under his leadership, enrollment grew from 4 to 54. He gradually assumed other duties with the Project.
Now he is married and the proud father of a two-year-old. He has a stimulating, rewarding and productive life, something that was not in the cards 10 years ago.
